In the lottery for his grandparents' furniture, this sofa was a big win for a sweet young couple setting up their first place together. Significant sentimental value aside, it is top quality, huge and heavy and will likely outlive several more generations.
The vintage flame stitch upholstery is cool but it's also pretty loud.
And now it's perfectly preserved under a quiet silvery blue linen weave slipcover that plays nicely with the rest of the furnishings in their home.
I made a few design changes to bring her into the present. I lengthened the skirt (of course) and streamlined the inside back. This will eventually be filled up with fun pillows so it just didn't need any extra fussiness. I love that it's still so square and retro-ish and obviously an heirloom.
I also made a roman shade for the adjacent dining area...
Simple and clean and the perfect thing to finish this happy space. Wishing them peace and love.
