Funky chair

This reminds me of Steve's Thinking Chair on Blues Clues.

I really did hesitate when the owner sent me a picture of this chair. I won't take on a project if I don't think I'll be able to do a good job, and the quirky design elements were pretty intimidating. I psyched myself up and said yes.

Here's how it turned out:

I'm so glad I accepted this challenge because it's a pretty great transformation and I know the owner is going to love it.
I decided to use a vertical piping on the back like the upholstery so the line of chunky cording wouldn't show through. She asked me to use my judgement and add a skirt if I thought it would look ok. I think the 6" box pleats add some volume on the bottom and balance out the over sized arms and back.

  1. WOW! From funky to gorgeous....I can't believe that's the same chair! Good call on adding the pleated skirt. Beautiful job, Pam!
