Ikat Wing Chair

Yep, my first "spec chair!" I was in Parker Place last Spring and Anne showed me this chair and said, "I know you can do something with it." It is simply a great chair- big, solid, stately, and comfy. And, I knew would also be an advanced exercise in slipcovering because of all the curves and the tight seat. It's taken until now for the right fabric to come along.

Here's the before:

Here are a few more views of the after:

I took a picture of myself in the chair so you can get an idea of the size- the high back is really dramatic. Send me an email or facebook message if you're interested.  I can deliver for free to the Salisbury MD area or for $25 to Berlin or the beach. FYI- this is a SLIPCOVER, not upholstery. The original upholstery is sill in place underneath the blue & white fabric.

Just in case anyone is reading this because they were searching for info on slipcovers, I stepped out of my comfort zone and pinned this one right side out.  Furniture is like a body or face- it appears symmetrical, but actually, one side is always a little different from the other. For a piece with this much detail and pattern matching, I felt like I had no choice but to give it a try. Here's the middle of the pinning stage:

  1. STOP!!!!! I am in love with this!!!! Where are you? I might need to send my husband and his trailer :)

  2. Thank you! I'm in Salisbury MD, which is about 30 miles east of Ocean City and about 3 1/2-4 hours from Richmond.
