Waverly Sun N Shade Slipcovers

What's the first step in creating a coastal vibe in your waterfront living room without replacing all your furniture? Slipcovers, of course!

This pair of burgundy wing chairs suited the more formal style of the homeowners' previous place, but felt a little too stuffy in their new sunny setting.

A search for just the right fabric led them to this aqua trellis design by Waverly Sun N Shade.

Typically you think of this fabric for outdoor spaces but the durability, wide range of prints and excellent price point make it worth considering for indoor use. Fading isn't a concern and spills wipe right off. The only negative in my opinion is that it's 100% polyester and not as soft as cotton or a blend. But then leather isn't all that cozy and it's very popular for seating.

These chairs are occasional pieces so nobody's going to be spending hours in them anyway. They will look great in the room and were a very affordable update. They'll be joining a white slipcovered sofa that I'll be starting shortly. Stay tuned.

  2. hello, i was looking for actual people who have used the waverly sun n shade fabric, and found your blog :) I am wondering how they have held up? Did you ever wash them? and lastly wow!! i cannot believe those are slip covers!! i have a couple of chairs that were rescued from a friend who was replacing them, they were only 2 years old, but had seen some serious use and dirt. i have completely recovered them...but having spent all that time pulling staples and struggleking and then seeing your chair slipcovers, I am thinking i should immediately make slip covers so that i don't have to recover them -EVER! I am not a fan ;) TIA!
