A unfortunate second floor water leak led to a little redecoration in this living room. While most of the furniture is the same, it's been re-arranged and repainted in a fresh and happy yellow. The old window treatments were very serious swags and jabots trimmed with fringe. The owners were ready to ditch them and go with something lighterand more relaxed, while still maintaining the room's traditional southern feeling. She had pinned a number of tailored valances, but didn't want heavy upholstered cornices. We narrowed things down to an off-white slubby linen fabric with a Fabricut trellis tape in a cream and bronze colorway to pick up on the darker furniture and metals throughout the space. We worked out the design with kraft paper, clipping away and trying it out until we hit the sweet spot. In order to give them as much structure as possible, they are double lined and interlined, with weights at each point.
Here's a close up of the fabric and trim. So pretty.
